READ FIRST

Upon trekking for days within the thick foliage of the jungle you find yourself amongst a destroyed camp of what appears to be the remnants of a forgotten expedition. Warm rocks surround the fire pit dehydrating the broth onto the interior of the tipped over black cauldron. There are no signs of life in the immediate area. As you look around, you notice distinct shreds of cloth hanging from the scaffolding of destroyed tents; a small yellow book stands out in the landscape of one of the ruined structures. Picking up the text you instinctively open the cover that is resistant from the dried blood holding the pages together along the spine. You discover that it is a diary of one of the lost explorers and it reads:

Tuesday - We finally found some hints of life in hopes that it will lead to the missing person the local natives have described to us. One of their great hunters has been missing for days. They described the man to have a large tattoo of the Sun on his right upper chest. A mark of a great man to the native tribe, a man with the mark of the Sun will rule his domain bringing a new way of life for their people.The tracks were unlike anything that I've seen. The hind feet seem to be supporting most of the creatures’ weight with a size slightly resembling a foot of a human in toe structure, only a bit larger and with a different stride. Sometimes there were two lighter tracks accompanied with the rear legs, I believe that they are from upper limbs. Perhaps this creature switches from walking erect and on all fours as it moves. We'll be taking every precaution as we approach the creatures as there is very little known.

Wednesday - After a long day of travelling we realized that the tracks were trailing in a large circular pattern. We believe that the unknown creatures that we have yet to see are randomly searching the area for their food. What they eat we have no idea, but we believe them to be carnivorous as there are no large animals in the area that could be at the top of the food chain.

Thursday - I woke up this morning choking on a vile stench. The thick hot air made me gasp for oxygen. As I crawled out of my tent I noticed that none of my companions are present. I called out their names only to be greeted by the silent ambience of the jungle. I collected my gun and machete to search for them. As I made my path through the wilderness the hair stood up on the back of my neck as though I could sense that I was being followed. As I walked farther and farther away from my camp I began to hear movements in the background but I could see nothing. I began to move more quickly turning into a sprint and the bushes behind me began to rustle. As I ran I tripped, falling over a branch, onto my stomached. My stalker then exposed itself from the thick brush.Upon revealing itself from the brush it paused only for a moment. It was unlike anything I've ever seen. Standing well over 6 feet, the creature was hunched and muscular wearing the remains of its outgrown clothing made up mostly of shreds of cloth. I stared into its fierce blood-shot eyes feeling the unquenchable hatred bestowed within its soul. As I noticed a quadrangular tattoo on the right side of its upper chest it leaped towards me bellowing in a strange tongue: "[-.-]." I turned my blade to its belly only to have it glance along its side. Raising my knee I managed to roll the beast off of me. I reached for my gun but it was gone: lost in my recent tumble. With no time to search for it I quickly stood up and ran back towards the camp.

Friday – I stayed up all night lighting torches around the perimeter to keep my surroundings lit. I prepared myself for what was to come. I knew they were coming but I did not know when or how I would even combat such a foe. I have no idea if I will survive this day; there are streaks of noises all around me now. Their numbers remain unknown to me. I can feel the roar of their screams deep within my bones as they approach. I wish I had more time to study these creatures. Maybe I could communicate with them, they seem intelligent. A prominent sound approaches me now, maybe of their leaders. I can hear its footsteps coming closer and stopping every few paces to scream! Can it sense me hiding in this tent? What will become of me? The yelling becomes louder and louder. What does it mean? It is abou...

The journal stops abruptly as a foul smell fills your senses and you can taste the air. The small hairs on the back of your neck begin to rise. A wooden tablet is thrown out of the bushes at your feet. You look down and pick it up and it reads:
